Christian teachers and staff bring their faith to school and walk with young people through life’s highs and lows. Their faith is making a difference in these young lives.

Teacher in New South Wales

In all schools, you’re gonna have teachers that care for their students and are invested in their students. But in a Christian school, the difference is that you have teachers who have the ability to get alongside students and pray for them and walk along a journey with them.

Teacher in Western Australia

Children at our school come from a number of different faiths. We also have many children who bring social or emotional challenges. Knowing Jesus’ compassion, our staff - including the office, maintenance, canteen, and teaching staff have the freedom to talk about God's love for these individuals. We can encourage and pray with our students where appropriate. Planting seeds and nurturing them is a privilege.

Michelle

Parent in Victoria

There is a wonderful sense of welcome, compassion and appreciation for the grace of God at our Christian school. I have a great sense of peace knowing that the staff share in our Christian belief and values.

Kuet Qeun

Former student in Western Australia

My non-religious atheist parents transferred me to a Christian school midway through my primary education because they wanted me to be inculcated with good moral and ethical values besides good academic education. My parents told me later that they liked what they saw in the person I had become, and they too decided to embrace the Christian faith for themselves.

Heather

Former student in Queensland

I am particularly grateful for the Christian teachers at the Christian schools I attended. Their genuine holistic approach to educating children and young people was inspiring. Students who had been expelled repeatedly from other schools were embraced and included as valued and significant members of our school communities.

Being a Christian teacher is a chance to speak life and bring hope to students and families in a culture that desperately needs it.

Kathy

Parent in New South Wales

When I decided to send my son to a Christian School I thought I’d just be helping him to focus better on his studies. I didn’t realise I’d also benefit from my interactions with the staff from a Christian school. The teachers at the school loved their Christian values and faith, and lived vastly different lives from mine, which at first I found difficult but interesting. Their caring influence had a calming effect on the children & on me too, which I enjoyed.

Monique

Teacher in Queensland

Jesus came not to be served but to serve. Christian teachers serve their students and families, showing love and humility because that is what Christ has called us to.

Susan

Teacher in New South Wales

Teaching children is very rewarding, but at times it can be a tough road. Knowing that I have been called by God to do this helps in the harder times and also helps me to encourage children when they are struggling in their learning.

There’s lots more where these came from!

Christian school graduates are good news for Australia

A recent study by Cardus found that Christian schools produce graduates who contribute to the common good within Australia society and who are more

likely to get involved in their community to serve others.

“I have seen children move from fear, helplessness and not having purpose to being excited and fully engaged in life. This has happened when I have been able to develop a relationship with students, get to know them and speak God’s heart so they have courage to both see themselves and the world differently and make a change.”

Dave, a Christian teacher in Queensland

Yes, Australia needs more volunteers

Ann is a teacher at a Christian school in Sydney. She has good news.

Will you ensure the
good news continues?

Our students go into the world with Christian hope in their hearts. A new generation of Aussies who love to volunteer, to serve their workmates and to build strong families.  They need supporters like you to speak up for them.

Changes proposed by the Australian Law Reform Commission could change this. Christian schools would be unable to hire teachers who believe and live their life-giving faith.

“The potential changes to Christian schooling seems to be suggesting that the faith of Christian teachers and staff doesn't matter. As someone who chooses to send their child to a Christian school, I want to let you know that faith makes a big difference.”

Rohan, a parent in Victoria

Do we have your support?

“I wouldn’t be alive today”
- Ruth

“I am a parent and also a former student of a Christian school, and I can honestly say I would not be alive today if it wasn't for the love, care, and grace shown to me by the amazing Christian teachers at the school.

I had so many people demonstrate a real and living faith to me - when I hit the lowest point in the darkness of depression after losing a classmate in a motorcycle accident, they reached out with words of wisdom from the Bible to give me hope and strengthen my faith in God.

Christian education is so important to me, and so important that my children experience an education with the biblical foundation which may very well save their life as it did mine.

Please understand and empathize with a parents' right to decide what education they want for their child, and do not look to overstep the boundaries between government and parenting.”

“Gave us a new start in life”
- Kathy

“When I decided to send my son to a Christian School I thought I’d just be helping him to focus better on his studies and therefore get a better education. I didn’t realise I’d also benefit from my interactions with the staff from a Christian school.

The teachers at the school loved their Christian values & faith, and lived vastly different lives from mine, which at first I found difficult but interesting. Their caring influence had a calming effect on the children and on me too, which I enjoyed. I soon realised the school needed assistance but had no funds to pay a school aid, so I offered my assistance, because I wanted to spend more time interacting with these different people in an uplifting atmosphere.

The more I helped out, the more I grew as a person. I loved working at the school & my children benefited greatly from the changes that occurred in my life as a result of feeling valued and appreciated by people who were reliable, consistent, caring, encouraging & lived all aspects of their Christian faith.

Until that point, I’d only experienced abusive relationships & life situations which I didn’t know how to get away from or how to do anything differently. The staff at the Christian school taught me what it meant to be safe & I become a more caring person. They showed me another way of living and helped me to change my life as well as the lives of my children for the better.

I never looked back & my children’s lives also improved exponentially. I thought I was paying for a better education for my children, what they got was a better, more supportive parent & a better life, as well as a great education. I will always be grateful for sending my children to a Christian school where staff actively lived their faith.

I can’t imagine where we would be today without those positive influences. All we had known until that point was abuse, Christian staff and teaching changed that & gave us a new start in life.

Please do not take the Christian staff or the Christian faith out of Christian schools. We send our children there because of the alternatives they offer. Parents should have the right to choose what’s best for their children. One size does not fit all with education.”

“He would be in jail or dead”
- Julie

“My boys are now adults and I know that for one of them, if he hadn't gone to a Christian school, he would either be in jail or dead. So it is important to me that Christian schools with Christian teachers and staff are still around.

The patience, compassion, support and love the Christian teachers gave to my children can not be replaced by someone who does not have the same faith, values and understanding as my husband and I.

I want my children to have the choice to send their children to a Christian school in the future if they want to.”
